Trigeminal
neuralgia is a severe pain in any part of the
face, which lasts a few seconds but with a repetitive
frequency. This appears, usually, in the people
more than 65 years old, mainly on women. The surgical
treatment of this pathology has reached its maximum
effectiveness through the surgical microdecompression
under microscopic magnification of the nerve in
the posterior fossa, being at the present time,
the vascular microdecompression, the treatment
of choice, against the old treatments of Gasserian
ganglia compression and chemical destruction of
the ganglia.
